November has been and gone already... doesn’t time fly!

We enjoyed a very busy month with various Activities and Entertainment. The highlight of the month must have been the BBC Children In Need Sponsored Paper Chain Making… the ladies and gents had a whale of a time with the added bonus of raising money for this wonderful event. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there on the day as some of my pupils were busy with Sally-Ann and I doing a two hour sponsored tap dance session… we’ve been doing this for the past 19 years and this year were pledged £1,411!! Our feet were ‘on fire’ at the end but it was well worth it!

Anyway back to our Activities. We thoroughly enjoyed some singing and trumpet playing with a lovely couple… Rita and Peter (pictured left) and dear Brian entertained us in his wonderful way with his accordion and singing.

Regarding our ‘Mind Benders’ section we had a Name Challenge, Similes and Occupations to name just a few.

On Remembrance Sunday some Guides and their Leaders from the lst Henfield Group prepared a Service for us which was very moving and enjoyed by all. We really appreciate these girls and adults giving up their time for us.

A large Snakes and Ladders game proved very popular on a very miserable November morning. Not only great fun, but it also provoked an interesting conversation on the history of the board game (Did you know the game originated in India in the 16th century and was introduced to England in 1892?).

A very clever lot these ladies and gents are when it comes to Rhyming Cockney Slang... great fun remembering the meanings... you would never ‘Adam and Eve’ it… they all had a smile on their ‘boat races’! We rounded off the Activity with The Lambeth Walk! Have you ever done this from your chair? We have and it was great fun... Oi!

Christmas would have been and gone by the time you hear from me again so I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.
