View Article  Volunteers – Part 1 (Lady Marmalade)
We are so lucky to have such wonderful volunteers who dedicate so much of their time regularly to Valerie Manor. Below, familiar face Marmalade tells us a little bit about herself, and in our next post we introduce two new volunteers…

Hello, my name is Maireadh Knight (Marmalade) and I am so lucky to spend time at Valerie Manor and am thoroughly enjoying my afternoon each week with the residents. I currently work as a Police Community Support Officer for Sussex Police and patrol Shoreham Beach. Before Sussex Police I worked as a Road Runner for Southern FM.

I have wanted to find somewhere to do voluntary work for some time now and am delighted it was Valerie Manor. I can honestly say I have a great laugh playing games and doing activities with the residents – they are a great bunch of people. When I am at Valerie Manor I get a warm fuzzy feeling because it’s such a genuinely warm, caring and stimulating environment for the residents.

Come and join us!

View Article  Volunteers – Part 2 (Holly & Lydia)
We would like to say a huge welcome to our two new volunteers, Holly and Lydia. I would like to thank them both for giving up their time each week to spend with the residents at Valerie Manor and look forward to working closely with them and building on all the good work that Marmalade has started…

Hi, my name is Lydia, I am 18 and currently at college doing my A levels. I hope to go to medical school after college and eventually qualify as a doctor. Valerie Manor has been a great opportunity to meet new people and build up a rapport with the residents living there. I am thoroughly enjoying my work as a volunteer!

Hello, My name’s Holly and I have lived in Steyning for nearly 16 years now, I am studying Art, Sociology and English Language A Level at Steyning Grammar Sixth Form, and am hoping to go onto University to do a Degree in Social Work. I am looking forward to volunteering at Valerie Manor within the activities and hopefully my Art A Level will come in handy!
