Valerie Manor has recently become involved in a pilot project to encourage and promote a healthy workplace. The pilot is being run by Horsham District Council until January 2009 and Valerie Manor is the only care home privileged to be able to take part at this stage. As part of the project we will be looking to achieve different levels of awards by promoting and demonstrating that we have a healthy workplace. This is a great opportunity for all the staff to participate in the project and it will be high on the agenda at our next staff meeting to discuss the priorities and what staff would like to do at Valerie Manor to become healthier. Some suggestions already received are for staff to give up smoking, for the manager to provide some fruit bowls and herbal teas each week, and to participate in some activities arranged by Robin our activities coordinator.I'll keep you up to date with our progress as we make Valerie Manor a healthier place for all our staff!
