The National Care Awards is an annual event which allows people to nominate individuals or a team for an award associated to care. This year I have made three nominations at Valerie Manor.

Of course, the wonderful care team who tend to all the needs of our residents and their visitors are the strength behind Valerie Manor and makes it the home that it is with its high standards and personalised care. For that reason I have nominated the Care Team, supported by quotes from the residents.

My second nomination was for the Care Activities Co-ordinator, Robin. The resident’s faces light up when Robin arrives and she gives up so much of her time organising, co-ordinating and spending time with the residents, she really makes a difference to their lives.

My third nomination was a team decision and is a new category this year - Best Resident/Relative Contribution. We have nominated Heather for this award, the daughter to one of our residents who spends so much time not only with her mother but with each and every one of the residents when she visits. She will take time to talk to the residents or just hold their hands and provide another smile around the Manor. Not only does Heather spend time with the residents but always has time for the staff and myself providing support to everyone.

Fingers crossed for all the nominations – I will keep you updated with progress.
