It was a joy to have the 1st Henfield Girl Guide Company back at Valerie Manor for a lovely Remembrance Day service on the evening of November the 11th.

The Guides organised the whole service themselves which included the hymn “Shine Jesus Shine” and “O God, our help in ages past” which the residents all sung along to. The service also included the lighting of candles and poems read out by individual Girl Guides. Along with the singing there were two talented guides who played the flute and keyboard. It brought back several memories for many of the residents and staff as we all sung along to “Taps” at the end of the service. Once again, as last year, it was a touching ceremony as young and old together remembered the fallen of past and present.
