Today, February 2nd, I should have been with our dear ladies and gents exercising with pom poms! Instead of that I am stuck at home in Hassocks with about a foot of snow outside being told by everyone on the radio and TV not to venture out so thought I’d update our Activities Report.

I’ve spoken to Zoe and she and Emma cleared the snow from the paths and then had a photograph taken with the Valerie Manor Snowman (Matilda!) that Emma built in full view of the lounge so that everyone could join in the fun without venturing out!  Thank you Emma.

One of the Carers took 2 hours to get home this morning after their shift that gives you an idea of how bad the roads were.

On with the Activities... Mind Benders with Affinities and Four Word Phrases proved popular. Everyone had a go at targeting the balls in the box (shame we didn’t have any coconuts to give out!)  The themed Australia Day was great with decorations in the dining room to complement the food... look out for the kangaroo!!  Almost everybody decorated fairy cakes.

February kicked off with the Wii Game that was kindly donated by Marmalade and her family.  We have flower arranging, General Knowledge Quiz, Sensory Identification, Hoopla and much more to look forward to in February.  We must not forget the belated Chinese New Year of the Ox theme day when some of our ladies and gents are looking forward to eating Chinese Food whilst listening to Chinese Music.  I also can’t wait to see their faces when they listen to the old favourites... Flanagan and Allen... remember ‘Underneath the Arches’ ?

That’s all for now... I wish you could see our cat, Lennon, he is very big and fluffy and black.  We have 3 cats but he is the only one who has come in from the snow with his tummy covered in snow as it is so deep!

See you soon, Robin (Activities Coordinator)
