I
would like to congratulate Emma who has successfully completed
her NVQ II in Health and Social Care. Emma is often on call for me when I am
not on site and this theoretical knowledge will underpin her practical
expertise and knowledge of how to deal with situations. I have every confidence
in Emma when I leave the Manor in her capable hands to be on call. It was identified during the initial assessments by Sussex Training that Emma had dyslexia and would require additional support. Although Emma has found it quite challenging, Sussex Training, along with Emma’s colleagues have been extremely supportive and she has now gained the qualification through determination and dedication. I'm extremely pleased for Emma and will be supporting her to undertake her NVQ III which she has already asked to enrol on.

The first outing was to
the seafront in Worthing and the staff and residents enjoyed a drink while
admiring the beautiful view – they were very lucky with the weather! Four
residents enjoyed the outing this week and everyone is looking forward to more weekly dedicated schedules!

I would like to welcome Holly to Valerie Manor.
Holly has come to us after working in the community for some time and has
completed her Health and Social Care A Level. I have employed Holly to assist
us with annual leave cover throughout the year and following the increase in
caring and domestic hours at Valerie Manor. Holly is already settling in well
and getting to know the residents. Welcome to the team Holly, we hope you will
be very happy with us!

Hello again,
It’s great that Zoe has organised two of the Staff to come in
on a regular basis to take our ladies and gentlemen out in the ‘Jalopy’ it takes
time getting organised and ‘loaded’. You may not know but the vehicle (pictured right) belonged
to my mother who had a stroke and was wheelchair bound for several years. John
and I used to take her out every Sunday... her favourite place was Seaford where
we sat and watched the sea eating ice-cream. When my dear mother passed we
were going to sell the ‘Jalopy’ (her name for her vehicle) it just so happened
that at the time Zoe was putting forward a business plan to buy a Care Home so
we decided to hold onto it in case her dream became reality.... and here we are
today! Her Nannas and Granddads would have been very proud. It is such a
shame they could not benefit from Valerie Manor.... I’ve booked my place!
