Exciting times are coming! I thought I would provide you with a little update on the extension plans for Valerie Manor. Everything is still running according to plan and the tenders are due back next week – I will update you when we have decided on a contractor. The timescale at present is still for the work to commence on the 19th April 2010 with an enabling period of two weeks prior to this to make suitable arrangements for everyone for when the building work commences. I now have curtain designs, carpet samples and vinyl flooring to enable me to sit with the residents and staff and choose what we will be having in the extension. The residents are already choosing names for their bedrooms (they would like to call all rooms by bird’s names which is lovely). Robin is going to co-ordinate this with them........let’s hope the residents don’t all want the same bird!
We had a staff meeting last week and went through the plans again so staff are fully involved and excited about the scheme and will, as always be here along with me to support the residents through the stages of the extension so that there is minimal disruption to everyone. I’m so pleased that we have managed to come up with a solution where we can keep all of the residents at Valerie Manor so that they have familiar surrounds and staff that they know while the work is taking place. I think it will be nice for them to watch the extension develop and be part of the project.
